Rogie Falls are about 15 minutes by car west of Strathpeffer and are on the same Blackwater River as Garve Bridge. There is a car park with toilet facilities and an information board and the falls are only about 5 to 10 minutes away. It’s an easy walk down but is fairly steep so is probably not suitable for wheelchairs or even scooters unless you are very determined.
I started taking photographs in Autumn 2014 and since then have returned at least once a month to try to see beyond the photograph and to try make sense of the geographical features flattened into 2D. As you will see I’ve, as usual, made liberal use of ‘artistic licence’!
I hope you enjoy following the steps to creating your own ‘artistically licensed’ embroidery of this beautiful place.
To start this embroidery I have roughed out the basic areas in fabric paint on a cotton background. I’ve started with the fir trees in the far distance and will gradually build up the picture from there.
