Rogie Falls 2 Impressions
To create the impression of a distant wood crammed with individal trees I have used fly stitch to create triangles to form the shapes that we see from a distance.
The fir trees nearest to the camera are slightly larger. A little bit more attention to detail is required as you bring in colour and the impression of shape to individual trees.
Nature is rarely tidy so the impression of a wild undergrowth mixed with the paler trunks of felled trees is created by hatching randomly. Using a range of different coloured threads mainly greens, browns and creams with a little burnt orange in the mix continue using your needle to go under and/or over other threads tugging them very gently this way and that.
